Paean is a semi-literate Warriors roleplaying site with an emphasis on depth of character and effective plotting, set in a new territory with the four original Clans. It was orignially created in September 2016, and has experienced many different iterations. Paean once featured three tribes-- who may or may not return-- and a whole lot of worldbuilding; it is our hope that its newest form delivers in terms of quality!
We offer a detailed history, frequent plots and plenty of character-- all at After Dawn hope to see you join!

As usual for dear Courser, she was up several minutes before the first streams of light appeared over the horizon, already sitting in the camp, staring blankly out of the camp entrance, listening to the sounds of the clan sleeping so peacefully. Most would have found the setting serene and calming, but Courser wasn't feeling that at all. She was on edge, ready for anything to happen. She wanted to go out, she wanted to get stuff done. Something, anything to keep her busy. Jumping to her paws, she rapidly began to pace, unable to keep herself still, she had to move, she had to do something. She didn't quite know the territory well enough to want to go out on her own, so that was out of the question and there hardly seemed to be any cat awake. While she didn't enjoy talking too much, she would pick even that over this boredom that was causing her to think about worse case scenarios, anything. Flicking her tail, Courser eyes all of the dens of the camp, impatiently waiting for someone, some cat to come walking out. "

" Quill padded out of their den, eyes dull with ill rest. The tall, broad cat had only gotten mere moments of sleep, and it showed in their every movement. Their reasons were, however, probably justified; making the nightly rounds of every border independent of the other Fleet members gave them a rare moment of solace, and they managed to even bring some prey for some of the Squabs. All in all, there was no reason to bother them, and they relished in this. Trading moments of peace for yet more rest- the lack of sleep was certainly annoying, but they'd be able to nap today, knowing they'd fulfilled their duties for the day. Looking up at the she-cat who was seated bang-smack in the middle of camp, they nodded a silent greeting to Courser before padding to the fresh-kill pile and picking up a squirrel. "

" Ears perking up as finally one cat seemed to emerge from their den, and on top of that, it was another Fleet Member, Quill. Now Courser usually wasn't the one to start a conversation, but considering that the other cat was the only other one awake, the sandy brown tabby was absolutely desperate to get some sort of conversation going, maybe they would enjoy going on a hunt with her or something? When the tall cat padded past her with a silent now, Courser nodded her head and rose to her paws, quickly following over. "Hey Quill, after your meal would you be up for going for a hunt?" The words tumbled out of her mouth quickly, some of them almost seeming to blur together but that was normal for her, she was just an overall very speedy cat with just about everything she did, even talking. Picking up a mouse for herself along the way, she would pad alongside the fellow Fleet Member, her yellow eyes focused on them as she waited for their answer. If they denied her, then she'd likely still go out on her own, but she figured it would be nice to have a bit of company to go with her. She just hoped that they could keep up, they appeared a bit sluggish today. But then again, it was particularly early.. "

" Padding closer to the she-cat and dropping into a sitting position, Quill began chewing idly at their breakfast, taking her offer into consideration. Courser wasn't.. completely annoying. Sure, her general manner wasn't something they particularly hated, but honestly? They couldn't be bothered. Still, though, it was something to do. Quill flicked their whiskers. "Make it worth my time," they mewed before taking another bite of their squirrel. "I'll go when I'm done eating." "

" The lanky, fast-paced she-cat stared at the other cat as she dropped down and began to chew idly, waiting somewhat impatiently for the others' answer, not bothering to sit down, her tail flicking back and forth. Out of all the cats in the clan, Courser was most not one of the most patient, but she held her tongue, knowing full well that others didn't take kindly to her lack of patience. Wrinkling her nose a bit at Quills' answer, Courser glanced away, huffing out a tiny breath. Make it worth their time? They don't have to come along, I'd be more than happy to go by myself. Hmph. The nerves of some cats. But instead of saying these thoughts out loud, she simply nodded her head curtly. "Right, I shall meet you at the entrance, I believe we should go along the Rani border, renew the scent markings, make sure everything's sound." Without giving much time for the other cat to respond, the sandy brown tabby made for the entrance to the clearing, the tip of her tail continuing to flick back and forth. Once reaching the entrance she would force herself to sit down and 'calmly' begin licking a paw, anything to keep herself from running out of her already thin patience. "

" (Hoi :3) Sodden trotted sluggishly out of the squabs' den, his muscles still adjusting to his abrupt awakening. When he was up, there was no going back. This usually led to the squab being one of the first up, albeit the tribe wasn't as large as the others. He spotted Quill and Courser somewhat chatting and headed over to the two, anxious how they'd react. The tom always felt the need to impress his tribe, as he was only recently accepted into the clan and felt unworthy of their kindness. "Hi, guys... How are you?" he politely inquired, smiling. "

" Courser continued to lick her paw in a rather brisk manner, just as everything she did, but allowed herself to glance up at Sodden as he trotted out of the squabs den, her pale green eyes focusing on the tom as he eventually made his way over, though she was still waiting for Quill to hurry up so that they could go on a patrol, she was anxious to get going and hated to wait any longer than she had to yet Quill seemed to want to take their sweet old time. "I'm perfectly wonderful and how about yourself Sodden?" She questioned, eyes focused on him and her paw being placed back on the ground, the tip of her tail giving a rather impatient flick. "
-- Duskflight
" "I'm fine, thanks," Sodden replied, cocking his head to the side. "Are you in a rush?" Although he kept a fairly calm expression, he was panicking that he was being nosy. "No, I ruined it!" he thought anxiously. The squab looked over to Quill, unsurprised they were being grumpy as usual. "

" It was a silly question asked by Sodden, Courser was always in a rush, she lived a rather fast-paced life as most cats knew, especially considering she was one of the Fleet Members, but nonetheless the she-cat flicked her tail and sniffed glancing away. "No, just waiting on Quill to hurry up so I can go check the Rani border, it needs to be refreshed and I want to make sure those.. heathens haven't overstepped their boundaries." Just as was usual for her, she spoke quickly, glancing back at the tom cat before huffing out and looking at Quill, still waiting. "
-- Duskflight
" "That's a new one... She's always busy," Sodden thought, feeling a sharp sense of tension wafting in the air surrounding the three. "Oh, alright," he replied, pausing for a moment. "Can I come?" There wasn't much else to do, which wasn't very rare in the squab's daily life. Nothing of note had happened in moons. That wasn't necessarily a bad thing, but it greatly bored Sodden. "

" Courser had a good sense of what the tom was thinking and wrinkled her nose, she felt other cats were so quick to judge her on the fact that she always seemed to be busy, or rushing, or something of the sort, that they really.. Didn't notice how hard she worked to keep this tribe thriving and safe, not to say that the other Fleet Members didn't do so, but she felt that other cats seemed to dislike her for always being busy. All she wanted to do was give her best to the tribe, she wanted to make sure all of the others were safe so that they could, in fact, sit around and talk, and smile, and laugh and afford that luxury of liesurely activity. "Sure, the more merrier." meowed the she cat simply enough, looking out of the entrance of camp, her paws aching to take her to her destination, the waiting was killing her slowly and she hated it. "
-- Duskflight
" Sodden lit up like a Christmas tree. "Yes!" he cheered, his tail curling around his paws. "Is Quill gonna go or not? They're so confusing sometimes." He was aware of their presence, although he didn't mind. The squab was sure their opinion of him hadn't changed in the slightest, although he hadn't talked to them much. He was the kind of cat that was very friendly to those he knew and somewhat distant and quiet to those he didn't. "

"Courser flicked the tip of her tail a bit and turned her head to watch Quill, slight agitation building up in her throat as the other fleet member seemed to be taking their sweet time in deciding if they were actually going to go on the patrol or not, the sandy brown tabby was slightly tempted to just leave them at camp and head off with Sodden because at least he seemed to be eager to do his duties for the tribe. Sighing out, she looked back at Sodden and flicked an ear. "I'm not sure, I believe so but they seeme to be taking their time." She practically hissed the last words, flashing a tiny glare of agitation at the other cat before looking back at Sodden. "I suppose I'll give them a few more moments to make up their mind, then we'll leave, whether with them, or without them.""
