Paean is a semi-literate Warriors roleplaying site with an emphasis on depth of character and effective plotting, set in a new territory with the four original Clans. It was orignially created in September 2016, and has experienced many different iterations. Paean once featured three tribes-- who may or may not return-- and a whole lot of worldbuilding; it is our hope that its newest form delivers in terms of quality!
We offer a detailed history, frequent plots and plenty of character-- all at After Dawn hope to see you join!

i am not disloyal, it is only that i have a mind of my own. it is also my belief that that is what you are afraid of.
quil - DRIFTPAW - driftingstorm
enby, they/them/theirs
medicine cat apprentice to dappledghost of shadowclan
50% tame, 50% stray
birth family is unknown

thin, lanky, and limber, it is all too obvious that driftpaw is not clan-born. possessing a long, glossy, grey and white pelt with darker tabby stripes, pale canary-yellow eyes, and a rosy pink nose, they appear so dull yet bright at the same time. the enby lacks any pronounced scars, as well as their very own claws, as they had been de-clawed in their youth. they are a bit larger than most their age, and thick fur creates an even bigger illusion to their size. as well as missing claws, driftpaw is missing their tail, a trait inherited by those they descended. they possess a somewhat pompous accent, sounding almost royal in the dialect that they speak, and even more so in the way that they carry themself-- light, powerful, with their chin held high. it isn't uncommon to believe that driftpaw thinks of themself as royalty as well, because they do.
awkward + causing or feeling embarrassment or inconvenience
unfamiliar with clan traditions, driftpaw is often clumsily navigating cats and territory without a guide. this also descends from being a single cat in a closed off household, unaware of how their actions, words, and feelings can affect others. despite their own mindset about themself, they are very awkward and can be described as a klutz when it comes to other cats and following the clan tradition. this leaves them susceptible to pranks and other mean-spirited activities that leaves them hot with embarrassment.
soft-spoken + softly or mildly spoken; persuasive or suave
the former pet speaks gently, often beating around the bush and struggling with their words. however, they can also be very persuasive, and very persistent. getting what they want and being pampered leaves them as somewhat of a brat, but not spoiled. no, it only fuels their desire and determination even more. this also gets them into big trouble if they're caught. unbeknownst to them, driftpaw can be very manipulative if they aren't getting what they want-- to the point of blackmail if they aren't stopped or punished.
daydreamer + dreamlike musing or fantasy while awake, especially of the fullfillment of wishes or hopes
driftpaw constantly has their head in the clouds, their mind often drifting if they feel like they don't need to focus. this ranges from conversations to important training, they will quite literally wander off to chase a butterfly. again, this gets them into trouble, but they do try their hardest to tame their wandering mind into submission.
impressionable + easily influenced because of a lack of critical ability
being a former pet has its disadvantages, and this includes driftpaw's will-- or their lack of. they are incredibly impressionable and moldable, which makes it difficult for them to form any sort of loyalty. for the most part, they follow their own beliefs and question everyone else's, which also disables their loyalty to their own clan. they give loyalty to friends, family, and influences, but are hardly willing to give allegiance to something-- or someone --that they think should constantly be questioned.
a wandering kit, a wandering mind, and a sense of adventure is all that led quil to the clans. they insisted on joining, as one thing led to another, but found it difficult to truly be a warrior due to their lack of claws and tail-- dismantling their balancing and fighting ability by a longshot. they still tried, however, but found more interest in the duties of a medicine cat. they found themself more and more interesting in herbs and healing abilities as time went on, and eventually took the courage to volunteer as dappledghost's apprentice. whether it works out or not is a tale only told by time.
