Paean is a semi-literate Warriors roleplaying site with an emphasis on depth of character and effective plotting, set in a new territory with the four original Clans. It was orignially created in September 2016, and has experienced many different iterations. Paean once featured three tribes-- who may or may not return-- and a whole lot of worldbuilding; it is our hope that its newest form delivers in terms of quality!
We offer a detailed history, frequent plots and plenty of character-- all at After Dawn hope to see you join!

Seeing the two jump enthusiastically at the mention of a spar was rather amusing to him. It took him back to his blunder days as a spunky young warrior; back when he had something to care about. Having something that gave you purpose, even if it were the most insignificant of things, would change your life drastically. The same unfortunately goes for loosing it as well. He knew that well and seeing the liveliness in their eyes made him envious- even a bit regretful. He wondered if it was his own fault that his own son never shared the same look.. Coincidentally, it was at that moment that a familiar scent wafted past him. This had ought to be fun.. He thought to himself sarcastically, turning to face the tom. Badgerstar met face to face with Ternfang, staring him down intensely with a long look of scorn. He furrowed his brows and waited for a few moments, expecting him to make a snide remark or really, anything that seemed remotely passive aggressive. "Clean the fur out of your ears boy, or you might not hear how mouse-brained you sound." He growled tersely, blatantly trying to coax him on.
He scoffed at Ebonysky's question, mocking Ternfang in such a dismissive manner, that he might as well have been giving him a compliment. "Starclan knows he's about as useless in a fight as a piece of dung, but if he insists on joining us I wouldn't mind the amusement."
"Ebonysky, Sootymask. To make this fair, no cheap shots. And try not to draw blood. Though honestly I could care less, I'm morally obligated to not let you kill each other, as entertaining as that might be to watch. " He instructed sternly, brushing towards them to sit a few taillengths away. "Understand? Of course you do."
when the lights shut off and it's my turn To settle down, my main concern Promise that you will sing about me
Ternfang sniffed at the clear dismissals from both his father and the molly he barely knew-- Ebonysky, was it? Tail lashing, he narrowed his eyes at Badgerstar's taunt, before mewing, "I'll be sure to, father dearest."
He would not be cowed by mere taunts like this. If Badgerstar wanted a fight, he'd be sure to give one any day. But there were other cats around, and Ternfang would not show such blatant weakness in front of others who weren't involved. He merely flexed his claws, (making sure to sheath them once more afterwards, he could play fair,) and rolling his shoulders.
Padding around so he could get a better look at the cats he was supposed to spar with, Ternfang nearly upturned his nose. What was Badgerstar playing at, trying to call him useless in comparison to cats like this? Sootymask looked like he was about to damn well fall over. Repressing the urge to roll his eyes, he sat, curling his tail around his paws.
"Thank you for so graciously including me," he muttered, ears flattening. "I guess I will."
Sootymask shook out his speckled fur, slate eyes sparkling as he waited in anticipation for the challenge. The tom whole-heartedly agreed with Badgerstar's rules, after all, who would want to hurt their clanmates? Of course, the leader was just joking when he said he would like to see them tear each other apart. Most people seemed to be grumpy at the thought of the grumpy tom becoming the leader, but he had no problem with it. Most cats were capable of leading under the right circumstances. Even Ebonysky. He could already tell she was getting used to his more annoying character traits. He stepped up to Ebony as she challenged him, an ecstatic grin on his face. "And if I win, you'll be my friend!" Honestly, Sootymask was so kit-like it was a wonder he ever passed his assessment. But this Clan was thoroughly lacking in optimistic cats, so Sooty had to step in and fill the role. His fleeting mind finally noticed the presence of another grumpy cat - how many were there?- Ternfang. Aside from just the general air he surrounded himself with, Soot noticed a surplus of it between Badgerstar and the new tom. "Lighten up guys," Sooty purred, smiling at the band of tense cats around him. "This'll be fun!" Stealing a sideways glance at their leader, Sooty noticed a rather stern expression, bordering on the edge of loathing for the new arrival. Apparently, they were father and son. So why did they hate each other so? A family was a mini-community of its own- sometimes you didn't get along, but you always had each other's backs. These two seemed to despise each other. Or maybe he was reading too far into it, and they were just having a small falling out. Badgerstar was already almost done with his next piece of dialogue before Soot noticed it, snapping back to reality as the leader gave a dismissive resolution. He once more focused on Ebonysky, fluffy tail undulating behind him.
